The mission of AniMatch is to give adoptable pets in Massachusetts a greater chance at adoption. By developing a network of animal welfare organizations throughout the state and acting as a liaison between them, we facilitate the evaluation and intrastate transfer of pets in need throughout this network - from organizations with limited resources to those that have more resources for finding “forever homes.”
To accomplish this we maintain a network of Massachusetts animal welfare organizations and an online database for posting dogs who are in need of transfer. Each dog is assigned his or her own caseworker to facilitate a smooth transfer.
To make it easier for an organization to make a realistic decision about its ability to help a particular dog we provide tools, training and assistance with behavior evaluations. We also have volunteers who will assist with transporting dogs between shelters/rescues as needed.
When we have the funding we try to help with those expenses that shelters often can't afford -- a dental surgery, an assessment from a veterinary specialist, or in-kennel behavior training for that dog who needs a few more manners. Sometimes this additional help can be just what the dog needs to get moving toward a new life.
AniMatch has been very successful helping animals in Massachusetts. We want to share our success with organizations outside of Massachusetts and help save lives in other states and regions, so we have created a “plug and play” program template that can be used — for free—by groups who want to create their own version of our program. The program can be modified to meet specific needs and allow for incremental implementation. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
